Time seems to move at the speed of light. Ten years ago the Internet was still uncharted territory. The same spirit of adventure that made me move to Spain spurred me on to want to create a geographical portal (website) that would help searchers to find suppliers area by area in the world, starting with the Costa del Sol.
I created the website and waited for searchers to visit, unfortunately nothing happened because nobody knew it existed. Long term advertising was expensive, then I discovered search engines; however they could not resolve my immediate problem, I needed to be known there and then, not when and if. So, before registering with any search engine, I started to publish my website as a portable printed magazine format and distribute it free on the coast.
History was created! The results were immediate and visitors started flocking to the website. Although Web Express Guide was the first publication in Europe, probably the world, to be published on the internet, what is even more relevant is that it was and still is the first and only website also published in print. The Portazine was born!
Three years later, when it was certain that it worked well, I registered it with search engines. If only the idea could have been patented, because ever since every Tom, Dick and Harry have tried to jump on the bandwagon, yet failing to understand the point in starting from the internet with a well designed professional website and misinforming advertisers. Doing it right takes lots of time, lots of money and constant maintenance, which most free publications can ill afford, especially the rubbish newspapers and magazines that are around of late. It is a shame but most people cannot tell the difference, therefore it is still possible to deceive consumers and advertisers with any old piece of garbage that looks like a website or a publication, simply because it appears on a screen.
Ten years of publishing on the Costa and the UK make Web Express Guide unique, currently with over ½ million regular visitors to the website plus the amount of readers of the printed magazine. This cannot be copied, 10 years of history puts us well ahead of anyone!
What is needed now is to add more areas to the website, each with its own printed publication principally aimed at a quality consumer and reader.

El tiempo parece moverse a la velocidad de la luz. Hace apenas 10 años internet era un territorio todavía desconocido. El mismo espíritu aventurero que me hizo trasladarme a España, me estimulo a querer crear un portal geográfico (página web) que ayudase a los buscadores a encontrar proveedores de todo el mundo, empezando por la costa del sol.
Creé una página web y espere a que los buscadores me visitaran por desgracia no sucedió nada porque nadie sabía de su existencia.
Fue entonces cuando creé la página web, y esperando que quienes buscaban me visitaran, desafortunadamente nada sucedió, porque nadie sabía que existía.
La publicidad a largo plazo era costosa, al poco tiempo descubrí los “motores de búsqueda”, sin embargo no podían resolver de inmediato mi problema. ¿Como dar a conocer ese movimiento de marketing por internet?
Pues, antes de colocar el dominio en cualquier Motor de búsqueda comencé a publicar mi página web como formato impreso y distribuyéndolo
libremente por la costa. ¡La historia fue creada! Los resultados fueron inmediatos y empezaron a visitar la página web. Web Express Guide fue la primera publicación en Europa y probablemente del mundo, en ser publicada en internet e impresa en papel, lo más curioso es que aún sigue siendo la única página web.
!Portazine nació! Tres años más tarde, cuando fue seguro que funcionase bien lo registré en los motores de búsqueda. ¡Debería haber patentado la idea! Porque han aparecido fulanitos y menganitos intentando copiar la revista, sin saber que el verdadero valor es el mecanismo del posicionamiento de cada empresa que se anuncia en Web Express Guide, de cuidado diseño y mantenimiento constante. Es increíble, pero la mayoría de la gente no puede notar la diferencia, por tanto, es todavía posible engañar a consumidores y publicistas con cualquier web -basura que parezca una página web simplemente porque aparece en una pantalla.
Diez años de publicación en la Costa y el Reino Unido hacen de Web Express Guide, una guía única, actualmente con medio millón de visitantes fijos, además de los lectores de la publicación impresa. ¡Esto no se puede copiar! 10 años de historia nos posicionan delante
