On the 4th March 2019 there was an agreement signed by Spain and the United Kingdom on Gibraltar, it’s the first international treaty signed since the Utrecht Treaty of 1715, when Gibraltar was ceded to the UK. The agreement struck between Spain and the United Kingdom came into force on the 13th March this year, which means that Gibraltar is no longer a tax haven.
The idea of the treaty is to eliminate tax fraud and the detrimental effects of a tax system that allowed people to pay corporate tax only on the profits they made in Gibraltar.
