On Thursday, November 20th, Casino Marbella became a vibrant hub of creativity as it hosted the grand opening of the exhibition titled “The Colour of Life”. This event marked a significant milestone for Jacob Van Doorn, a Dutch artist from Hilversum, whose journey in the art world has been both varied and inspiring.
After spending decades in the realms of graphic design and advertising, and more than twenty years running a bar-gallery in Marbella, Van Doorn now embarks on a new artistic chapter. This phase is characterized by a bold embrace of colour, fresh forms, and a ritualistic approach to art, reflecting a deep and personal transformation.
“The Colour of Life” brings together a stunning collection of figurative portraits, created with vibrant acrylics on canvas. In each piece, colour takes centre stage, with intense reds, electric blues, and luminous greens that convey movement, emotion, and joy. Each portrait is more than just an image; it’s a celebration of life and the transformative power of art.
Inspired by a new personal chapter, Van Doorn channels his emotions into his creative work, producing a body of work that is as much about rebirth as it is about expression. This exhibition is not just a display of art; it’s a testament to the resilience and rejuvenation that art can offer.
